Connecting Expertise Across Mountains and Borders
● MountMed Knowledge NetworkThe MountMed Knowledge Network is a dynamic, interdisciplinary community of researchers, institutions and practitioners from France, Austria, Switzerland, Greece and Cyprus specialising in rural and mountain areas. It brings together scientific expertise, territorial experience and institutional capacity to support the sustainable development of Mediterranean mountain regions.
This Network is strengthened through collaborations with academic and research institutions, social organisations, entrepreneurial actors, public authorities and European and international networks. Mountain actors and institutions are central to this ecosystem, ensuring that scientific knowledge remains connected to the realities, needs and capacities of mountain territories.
The Knowledge Network supports MountMed’s role as a bridge across science, policy and local action. It contributes to research, education, advisory work, participatory planning, project development and advocacy for mountain regions. Through this Network, MountMed mobilises knowledge and expertise from different disciplines and territories, enabling integrated responses to the challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss, agricultural abandonment, demographic decline, economic and energy transition, cultural heritage and social resilience.
The Network reinforces MountMed’s international orientation and supports its work to connect local action with European and global debates on sustainable mountain development, territorial cohesion, and the future of rural and mountain communities.
