A Living Laboratory for Mountain Innovation
● Troodos Territorial Living Lab
MountMed adopts and implements Territorial Living Lab as a space-based laboratory grounded in the principles of collective learning, local knowledge, and social innovation, where integrated sustainability transitions are designed, tested and refined under real environmental, socio-economic and governance conditions.
TLL acts as a mediating space where different actors (local actors, researchers, public institutions, citizens) meet to co-produce knowledge and solutions. Through experimental processes:
the link between knowledge and place is restored as innovations are developed in real-life conditions (in vivo)
territorial anchoring is strengthened, i.e., the integration of innovation into local heritage, local values and relationships, and the tangible and intangible infrastructure of the place
territorial capacities are produced, i.e. the community's ability to learn collectively, coordinate actions, self-organize, and self-determine its development path
To support the operation of the TLL and the dialogue between local actors, stakeholders, and experts, a specific participatory and interactive methodology is required, as well as the development of a territorial information system, an integrated and dynamic framework for the collection, analysis, and visualization of spatial and socio-economic data.
